A different perspective on physiotherapy
Dynamisch Bewegen® is a movement model based on decades of professional experience and the study of specialist literature in the fields of dynamic systems theory, evolution, motor development and movement coordination.
Dynamisch Bewegen®
The fundamental principle of Dynamisch Bewegen® is that the musculoskeletal system functions as a self-organising dynamic system. The result of this self-organisation is movement coordination. The prerequisites for self-organisation are flexibility and movement. The quality of movement coordination therefore depends on the range of motion. Coordinated movement ensures that structures remain flexible and dynamic.

If you really want to gain a deeper understanding of the musculoskeletal system, whether as a layperson or a professional, this book comes highly recommended. The author has gained extensive experience working with various target groups and across different disciplines, as described on her website. Furthermore, in addition to her broad practical experience, she has deepened her knowledge through an in-depth, cross-disciplinary study of the underpinnings of the musculoskeletal system.
Ultimately, she has brought her experience and knowledge together in the practical approach of "Dynamisch Bewegen". It is truly a masterpiece of craftsmanship!
The book provides a clear thread to help you grasp the essence of the movement system. In doing so, the author brings order to the vast amount of information available in this field. What’s more, you can explore the recommended literature without losing sight of the main thread.
I came across Sabine Kern in 2015 during my long quest to regain the ability to walk. Following foot surgery in 2000 on my little toe joint – a relatively straightforward procedure – the orthopaedic surgeon told me the operation had been a success, but I was still unable to walk properly. I then spent years searching for solutions and consulted various doctors, specialists and physiotherapists. No one has really been able to identify and resolve my problem; in the end, my walking was limited to walking to my neighbour’s house down the street, a journey of about one minute.
After two years of therapy with Sabine Kern, I can now walk roughly four times the distance and for four times the duration, and what’s more, there’s the prospect of walking further and with better coordination. Quite a change after all those years of searching and stagnation when it comes to walking.
I’m currently reading Sabine’s book for the third time. I find it interesting both as a layperson eagerly seeking reliable information to aid my recovery, and as a biologist interested in the dynamics of biological systems such as the musculoskeletal system.
With this book, you’re getting a guide you won’t soon forget—one you’ll return to time and again for its core principles and to delve deeper into the recommended reading. You also have the opportunity to take a course with the author and attend additional workshops, allowing for personal interaction as well.
